Abstract
Fibrin-rich hard clots can present significant challenges during mechanical thrombectomy. This study evaluated the PREMIER technique, which partially resheathes an EmboTrap III stent retriever with a microcatheter to improve capture of hard clots.
In vitro testing found a higher successful recanalization rate for fibrin-rich clots using the PREMIER technique compared with standard EmboTrap III retrieval in the experimental model. The vascular simulation system incorporated a United Biologics FlowTek 125 pulsatile pump to support controlled flow during testing.
